New “urban problems”

Juan pointed out to us an article in Spanish newspaper “elpais” about how bicycles are currently causing confrontation between citizens inSpain:
Of the many problems that alter the placid existence of the citizen, bicycles have become the most impossible to deal with. Against all odds and without apparent reason, all those involved in the issue are battling: on one side, cyclists, and on the other, pedestrians and drivers. Not even motorbikes, all-pervasive, noisy, dangerous and invasive, cause so much opposition.
The deep reason for this antagonism is as simple as it is difficult to change. From its origins, cities have been conceived to move around on foot or by carriage. Bicycles are recent and don’t belong to either of the two indigenous species, despite sharing features with both…
