Goal of the challenge is to design and build units of a model arts village in Ghana with a budget of $42,000-$62,000 and earth under the feet. The competition is a part of the Foundation’s ongoing project: tapping local resources for sustainable development in the African settings in the 21st century. Twitter is currently echoing the excitement of open data advocates and data geeks alike, due the release of data.gov, an open and free web repository that aims to provide public access to US Federal Government datasets. Or, in official terms: “The purpose of Data.gov is to increase public access to high value, machine readable datasets generated by the Executive Branch of the Federal Government“.

El pasado mes de octubre participé en el citilab de Cornellà (Barcelona) al urbanlabs, unas jornadas para presentar, compartir e incluso crear proyectos de acción ciudadana, innovación, comunicación, aprendizaje, con un fuerte componente social y tecnológico. Entre las personas que conocí se encuentra Massimo Menichinelli: un chico italiano con el que había tomado contacto a través de twitter.

En estas semanas se decide la privatización de Internet. El 5 de mayo el parlamento europeo vota un paquete de medidas que influirá en las legislaciones de todos los paises.
Para proteger los intereses de las multinacionales de la comunicación y del entretenimiento, el parlamento europea podría regalar nuestros derechos de acceso a una Red abierta.
