Category: ⚐ EN+daz+events

We are glad to announce the opening of “Looking through ecosistema urbano eyes” exhibition at Daz Architecture Center in Berlin on 18th November at 7.00 pm.

From the press-release:

+++ ecosistema urbano combine architecture, urbanism, engineering and sociology to strive
for a “creative urban sustainability”. The focus of their work is on the complex phenomenon
of the city, which they react to through innovative, creative and holistic interventions. They
catalyse urban processes that help citizens to change their own environment. At the DAZ ecosistema
urbano will visualize, through a classical 3D optical system, the process and strategies
for a selection of recent works. It will be the second exhibition of the DAZ series FORMULA_X,
presenting the facets of sustainable ideas and visions of the up-and-coming architects` generation.
+++

Exhibition will include some of our recent works, such as Plaza Ecopolis and Air Tree for EXPO 2010 Shanghai that we have recently shared under a creative commons license.

Master’s Programme Relational Barcelona

Category: ⚐ EN+architecture

Barcelona has always been a place of transfer and exchange, as well as a permanent laboratory for urban proposals that reflect the reality of many cities.

Today’s new, plural, intelligent cities not only work in traditional areas affecting urban environments, such as infrastructure, land, networks, etc., but they are now also focusing on other factors that affect their growth and development. These factors include sustainability criteria, creating balanced communities, making use of new technologies in the areas of transport, energy and communications, and cultural and geographic matters that can help the city develop a unique personality.

The Master’s Programme RELATIONAL BARCELONA, organized by the ESARQ School of Architecture and the Faculty of Humanities at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, provides students with a deeper understanding of the identity of cities, their origins and future developments, and how a critical, multidisciplinary approach can be taken to resolve unknowns regarding the projection, development and management of the cities of tomorrow. In particular, the Master’s programme is aimed at holders of undergraduate degrees who are interested in the growth, development and management of cities from the social, cultural, economic and urban perspectives. Candidates for enrolment in the programme include analysts, cultural managers, communicators, technical managers, technicians, environmental experts, political analysts and journalists. continue reading

AMUSEMENT is in context

Category: ⚐ EN+architecture

AMUSEMENT is in context. That seems imperfectly meta and self-referential, but to find something funny or entertaining relies entirely on perspective and circumstance. Enjoyment is found in the heart of the beholder. It’s personal. And the person creating the event, the statement, the idea, the passage will, like any artist with an eye, see what he or she can get away with. J’amuse? You muse.

#followarch studioUAP

Category: #follow+#followarch+⚐ EN+architecture

Twitter’s users have got into the habit of selecting and suggesting someone interesting to follow. This action has become a weekly international event and it is called #followfriday.

As you probably already know, [Ecosistema Urbano] has been inspired by the Twitter #followfriday to create a new section known as #followarch focused on recommending interesting and innovative architecture offices.

Today we are glad to present the work of the Italian firm based in Rome StudioUAP.

studioUAP, in Rome, founded by Silvia Cioli, Luca D’Eusebio and Andrea Mangoni, works mostly on public spaces and participation.

Urban projects, architecture and landscape design are the occasions for experimenting models for the introduction of social interaction especially with children and low tech architecture. studioUAP, works as an independent office, consultant or together with other architecture firms. Research field on Rome, through Microcities (1999), Romalab (2005) and the Bilancio Partecipato (2009) together with architecture competitions focused mainly on the design of public space (1st prizes Parco Radicelli and Paesaggi Mirati, 2008) has offered the opportunity to investigate themes applied to public works such as the kindergarten in Quarticciolo, the youth center in Corviale (innovation and urban quality prize EuroPA 2009) and the prototype design for a sustainable low cost kindergarten for Bracciano and other sites. continue reading

eucomics: nanoarch #1

Category: ⚐ ES+eu:comic

Buena suerte.

As you probably already know, [Ecosistema Urbano] has been inspired by the Twitter #followfriday to create a new section known as #followarch focused on recommending interesting and innovative architecture offices.

Today we are glad to present the work of the French firm based in Paris HDA | Hugh Dutton Associés that we have been recently following trough their blog and through their twitter @HDA_Paris.

We especially appreciate their approach that focus on an intelligent and poetic combination of architecture and engineering.

In the last months, due to a big “network effect”, some of their projects have been widely published, as well as their recently inaugurated footbridge design in La Roche-sur-Yon, France in collaboration with Bernard Tschumi.
