Design workshop with Basurama and El Ultimo Grito

Category: design+events+⚐ EN

We have talked about basurama before. I, Ben, as well as being part of Ecosistema Urbano for nearly a year now, I spend, since 2001, much of my time and energy in organising basurama. In this occasion, we want to talk about the next workshop we are organising: Diseño de sobra 07.

A workshop for the design and creation of objects in real time. An initiative for researching the possibilities of working with industrial waste in the creation process. A collaboration with El Ultimo Grito (a design firm currently based in Berlin, run by Rosario Hurtado and Roberto Feo, lecturers of Goldsmith University and Royal College of Art in London). A collective experience in a unique setting in Madrid (Palacio de la Prensa, Callao). In continuance of Diseño de Sobra 06.

The workshop will be 3 days long (8-10 january), we will work morning and afternoon to develop together the ideas, design and production of movable devices capable of radically transforming urban conditions of those places where they are temporarily installed. No-identifiable bodies for interacting freely in an urban context.

If you are interested, send an email with your details (full name and telephone number) to inscripciones at basurama.org telling us why you can to take part in DdeS07, together with a representative image of your work. The workshop is free. There are 10 places available. Application deadline: 31st december. The list of selected candidates will be published on the 2nd january.

PKMN – interesting interactive exhibition – Toledo creates Toledo

Category: architecture+eu:abierto+events+new technologies+⚐ EN

Toledo creates Toledo” is an interactive exhibition aiming to connect art, architecture and public action and to make citizens see themselves as active parts, conscious of their critical and creative capacity.

Toledo creates Toledo” is the first event-exhibition of a line of action through which we want to link architecture, action and city, bringing citizens closer to the physical and mental space where they can be conscious (doing-acting) of their critical and creative abilities as active builders of their city… parallel to the project they have set up a blog (www.toledocreatoledo.blogspot.com) and a meipi (wikimap meipi) that help it stay active and accessible. The exhibition is set up as a lab where the visitor can watch the works at the same time as it can take part in the creative process throughout 10 days full of events.

Toledo crea Toledo” has been organised around 6 actions concerned with different architectural scales and concepts (#01. Intercambios de Identidad –identity exchanges-, #02. Safari fotográfico –safari in photos-, #03. Atmósferas de jabón –soap atmospheres-, #04. Casa de Toledo –house in Toledo-, #05. Atlas, #06. Paraísos personales –personal paradise-).

PKMN [pac-man] is a team of architects developing in Madrid since 2006 as an open group for the production and widening of architectural/interdisciplinary ideas, tools and projects, developing theoretical/practical studies of concepts and realities such as action, city, body, identity, trace and memory [www.pkmn.es]

OSSA WORKSHOP IN SILESIA (POLAND)

Category: architecture+ecosistema urbano+events+⚐ EN

We attach a picture of the workshops that are taking place in Gliwice (Silesia), organised by the association of architecture students in Poland. ecosistema urbano is taking part as the tutor of one of the work groups.
Silesia is a region located in the southwest of Poland where a number of cities have sprung around the numerous coal mines, with a total population of approximately 2 million people. Currently, most of the mines and heavy industry associated with them have been dismantled and abandoned.
These workshops are an opportunity for thinking about the future of the region, the development possibilities given by the huge industrial heritage and the options for organising the urban centres in the area to function as a single regional megalopolis in Silesia.

If you took part in the workshops, we want to hear your comments!!

….bike lane… going into action!!

Category: city+events+⚐ EN

We have received an email from Lara telling us how the project “a bike lane for Madrid” was followed by a large number of people in the last meeting in patio Maravillas, in Madrid city centre.
She tells us: “I am very happy for the warm welcoming the project has received in your blog, the comments, and the people who attended the meeting because they read about it on the day and wanted to find out what was going on…. The bike lane is going ahead, it is going into action.

Last Wednesday (24th October) two workshops took place in patio Maravillas:
Mobiliario alegal-Santiago Cirujeda
Plantillas carril bici-Patio Maravillas/BiciMad

Ps. I have just returned from Seville and have been positively impressed by the number of people who use the bike lane recently created there. It would be great if the same thing happened in Madrid!
