ecobulevar in windows live local

Category: ⚐ EN

We have seen our ecobulevar in (windows’ version of google maps). This aerial photographs service is developing fast; it doesn’t yet cover the whole planet, but there are many photos of Spain in it already. You can look at the sites from North, South, East and West directions. If you click here you will see the ecobulevar from the West (just move with the arrows).

studiochu graffiti

Check out this website: www.studiochu.tv. On this site you will find the work of Julian Pablo Manzelli (aka “chu”), ranging from video clips to toyz, with plenty of interesting graphics. My favourite section is STREETart: graffities in different cities (Mexico FD, Berlin, Buenos Aires…), good examples of interventions in the city.

eutv for participation!

Category: ⚐ EN+eutv+internet+sustainability

We have done some changes in eutv wiki –we invite you to visit it again. This site aims to show what is being done in the project and to be a platform for participation with ideas or proposal for the improvement of all that you see necessary.

We mean it when we talk about getting involved with and taking part in other projects. We know it is unusual, so here are some examples of how you can work with us:

Companies can support, finance or offer services in exchange for visibility in the project.

Universities can do a visibility exchange, bearing in mind that professors and students can publicise their works and research on sustainability through our website.
We are particularly interested in projects that go beyond the academic approach – we would like to promote participative projects that require researchers to get in touch with all kinds of people.

Local governments wanting to do work on sustainability in their town can be publicised in our platform in exchange for local publicity of our multimedia contents.

Museums can offer events for promoting sustainability, like exhibitions or workshops that we can help organising.

If you have a website about sustainability, you can share your contents and exchange links. If you want, you can become a moderator and dynamizer of one of our sections.

Juan Freire at Medialab Prado

Category: ⚐ EN+architecture+internet+technologies

It is difficult to summarise the interesting, fun and educational conference given by Juan Freire last week at Medialab Prado. Our attempt to do so comes in “tags” format:

Juan Freire talked about:

The tragedy of the common, the tragedy of the anti-common, sheep in Scotland, Sao Paulo without publicity, Burning Man VS Fallas de Valencia, Quartzsite Arizona, virtual reality VS physical reality, physical reality and hybrid reality, hybrid public spaces, knowledge chefs, knowledge like water or electricity, [ecosistema urbano] (thanks, Juan!), recetas urbanas, open code architecture, Sociopolis, information layer on the ground, hiper-local networks, google maps VS open street maps, real time rome, technology isn’t important – applications are.

I hope to get through the idea of the complexity and relevance of the topics covered at the conference (I want to thank our Domenico for getting us into this 2.0 world, without his help I probably wouldn’t understand much about some of these issues).

Thanks, Juan Freire, we hope to see you in Madrid again soon.

P.S. I have added links to as many concepts as I have been able to, to make this post into a hiperpost ; )

Madrid wakes up with a new 22km long bike lane

Category: ⚐ EN+city+events

The night from Saturday 24th to Saturday 25th of November, a bike lane has been painted on the streets of Madrid (Atocha_Colón_boulevards to Pincesa_Moncloa_Ciudad Universitaria).

The bike lane covers 11 km each way. It was painted by over 100 people in less than 1 hour. No incidents were recorded.
Yesterday -Sunday 25th- a further event took place to claim a functional bike lane and the use of bicycles as a safe means of transport that is cheap, ecological and autonomous.

You can see some pictures at http://quierescallarte.ourproject.org

bicillecas project in Madrid Sur

Category: ⚐ EN

150 students from Madrid Sur have cycled through Vallecas to ask for a bike lane. A big success.

The project “bicillecas” (bicycle + Vallecas, the name of the neighbourhood), developed by the neighbours together with [ecosistema urbano], has been handed to local politicians Ínes Sabanés (IU), Pablo García Rojo and Francisco Hernández (PSOE). These initiatives are part of the campaign Con Bici al Cole (To School on Bicycle) developed at Madrid Sur High School, managed by PEDALIBRE.

PKMN – interesting interactive exhibition – Toledo creates Toledo

Category: ⚐ EN+architecture+eu:abierto+events+technologies

Toledo creates Toledo” is an interactive exhibition aiming to connect art, architecture and public action and to make citizens see themselves as active parts, conscious of their critical and creative capacity.

Toledo creates Toledo” is the first event-exhibition of a line of action through which we want to link architecture, action and city, bringing citizens closer to the physical and mental space where they can be conscious (doing-acting) of their critical and creative abilities as active builders of their city… parallel to the project they have set up a blog (www.toledocreatoledo.blogspot.com) and a meipi (wikimap meipi) that help it stay active and accessible. The exhibition is set up as a lab where the visitor can watch the works at the same time as it can take part in the creative process throughout 10 days full of events.

Toledo crea Toledo” has been organised around 6 actions concerned with different architectural scales and concepts (#01. Intercambios de Identidad –identity exchanges-, #02. Safari fotográfico –safari in photos-, #03. Atmósferas de jabón –soap atmospheres-, #04. Casa de Toledo –house in Toledo-, #05. Atlas, #06. Paraísos personales –personal paradise-).

PKMN [pac-man] is a team of architects developing in Madrid since 2006 as an open group for the production and widening of architectural/interdisciplinary ideas, tools and projects, developing theoretical/practical studies of concepts and realities such as action, city, body, identity, trace and memory [www.pkmn.es]

at Embajadores 27, Madrid

Category: ⚐ EN

On the 16th november, a japanese tea garden appeared at embajadores street, no. 27 (Madrid), an empty plot of land previously full of waste and rubbish. Neighbours, delighted with the initiative, have been using this new urban equipment and have started contributing with their own ideas. Could this be the start of a new era for urban unbuilt plots, empty for so long?
